I sat up most of the night with him. He was so uncomfortable and I wanted to be there for him. And when he did sleep ... I couldn't. I just sat on the sofa and listened to him breathing. This morning, I took him to the vet. I knew it was the right thing to do, but that didn't make it any easier. I did stay with him through the procedure, all the way until the end, until the moment the vet said, "He's gone." And then I closed his eyes for him, scratched his head one last time, and walked out of the room. It was not a good day.
I'm not going to post a caption tonight. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe a few days. But probably not until the tears stop.
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I wish I had some profound or at least comforting words,
ReplyDeleteSorry for your loss. I as well have had to put down a beloved pet. It was one of the hardest things I gave ever done in my life. My heart truly goes out to you.
ReplyDeleteso sorry it is the hardest thing to do. take the time you need to grieve
ReplyDeletei never have had pet, and i felt your pain here. thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteMy sympathies as well. Losing a good pet is just about as hard as it gets. I lost my dog of many years last Christmas, and haven't been the same since. Like losing a part of myself.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences for your loss, and I hope the best for you. Like others have said, take all the time you need.
My condolences, Mindy. And to B-Rex also. Can't imagine what it will be like when the time comes that I have to do the same.
ReplyDeletePeace,Love&Kisses;

I'm sooo sorry it always sucks to lose a furry family member hugs and cuddles.
ReplyDeleteIt's always a heartbreaking time and I'm sorry for your loss. My family had to put down our 15 year old dog a few months ago due to seizures. At least they're not suffering anymore.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your lost. I remember when I had to bring my dog to the vet. I think fpor them it is the most improtant think that they feel that their owner is with them and that the pain will be over soon. Just think about the good times you two had. That helped me.
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the best.
Very sorry to hear this. My best to you.
ReplyDeleteMy sincere sympathy. There's something so trusting and innocent about loyal pets.
ReplyDeleteI havent been able to get new ones since mine passed a few years ago as
i don't want to feel the pain of losing one again...
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I had had to go through losing a very much beloved pet too. It was a dog my parents got when i was barely two. We had her 13 happy years, i didnt even remember life without her. I sat in the room, petting her head until they said she was gone, kissed her one last time on the head, and said goodbye to a member of my family that day. Nearly a decade later, I'm sorry t say, the pain never goes away. But i have found threw the years that i cry more about the happy memories than the sad, and often with laughter, and only a little sorrow. My heart truly goes out to you during this time, and i only hope that one day you to will be able to cry tears of laughter and joy at the memories of the time you shared, than at the pain of your loss.
