The Bad News ... and the Good News

The bad news is that I've been in a bit of a creative dry spell lately. Add to that the fact that I've been very busy and that I've finally found myself interested in reading again (for some reason, I've been in a bit of a slow reading phase for a while; I'm usually a voracious reader). Thus, while I'm still working on captions, they seem to be coming a bit slower than they were before (and I really need weekends to clear my head and focus).

The good news is that because I've only been posting one or two captions a day, I still have a backlog of about 50 completed captions! Thus, even if I only find time to work on new captions on weekends, I should easily have enough to get me through the end of the year with little difficulty! And when I do get a creative spark, I find that I often find myself completing 5 or more captions in an evening's work ... er ... play.

And, though my creativity is at a bit of low right now, the collection of images in my "to be captioned" folder holds a lot of possibility (not to mention a lot of images).

Also, while I know that I talked about wanting to participate more at the Haven, I've found that with my time as limited as it has been, I've been focusing more on my own captioning and image cataloging and less on being a part of the community. I suspect that my priorities are a bit screwed up there ... but sometimes taking the easy route and focusing just on me is ... well ... easier. I'd really like to leave more comments on other blogs, but again, for some reason that I'm not really sure that I can identify, I haven't been very good about that.

But I do love the comments that people leave here and I've been trying (though not always successfully) to respond and engage those who leave comments. So please, please keep up the communication!

  2. I'd love to find a way to finish one of the dozen or so novels for which I've written the first handful of chapters. I start writing and then ... um ... er ... well ...

  4. Thanks for the kind words. But in all honesty, I don't consider this work. I do enough work. This is a way to blow off some steam and have a little fun. But like anything else, sometimes you need a little less of this and a little more of that. Or something.

  5. Your wet spells more than make up for your dry spells. Love your stuff.

  6. I feel like I need to respond to a comment about my wet spells. Then again... Um... I'll just say thanks.

  7. I've been checking on your work for quite a while and I have to say that you shouldn't think much about it. You are a great captioner, no need to apologize and besides if you think that the "mojo" going away and the writers block is coming then take your time and do what you like apart from this ^-^

I think that at some point ideas should come naturally ^-^

    Keep up the good work!

  8. Thanks, Alectra. That helped quite a bit. I guess that I find myself getting into situations where I impose upon myself an obligation that really isn't there and then I feel guilty when I don't live up to that obligation. Knowing that people appreciate what I'm doing but also understand that creative energy can't be forced helps relieve the pressure. Thanks, again.
