Tumblr or Blogger?

For the last few days, I've been posting over on Tumblr as I work on setting up that platform for my captions. But my attention was directed to this post from Google:
Hello everyone,
This week, we announced a change to Blogger’s porn policy. We’ve had a ton of feedback, in particular about the introduction of a retroactive change (some people have had accounts for 10+ years), but also about the negative impact on individuals who post sexually explicit content to express their identities. So rather than implement this change, we’ve decided to step up enforcement around our existing policy prohibiting commercial porn.
Blog owners should continue to mark any blogs containing sexually explicit content as “adult” so that they can be placed behind an “adult content” warning page.
Bloggers whose content is consistent with this and other policies do not need to make any changes to their blogs.
Thank you for your continued feedback.

Hmm. But this whole Tumblr thing seems kinda cool. So maybe I'll try to live on both platforms?

Moving to Tumblr?

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions about what to do when Blogger shuts down adult-themed blogs. It looks like I'm going to be moving to Tumblr. (Actually, I set up a Tumblr page a few years ago ... and did nothing with it.) I'm not going to delete this blog (at least not yet), partially in hopes that Google will come to their senses (not holding my breath) and change their mind on this idiotic new policy. I'm a creature of habit and I know how to do what I want with Blogger. Learning something new ... well, I'd rather not.

Anyway, go ahead and jump over to my new Tumblr page and say "hi". No captions yet and I plan to change the color of the header. But it's a place to get started, right?

Sigh.

It Just Keeps Getting Better and Better...

Bad enough that my old computer died before I could finish migrating to my new computer. But tonight, when I checked my email, I learn that as of next month, Blogger is going to ban blogs like this one with sexually explicit or graphic nude images. My options apparently are to make the blog private and then only those with whom I've shared the blog can view it ... or move to another platform. One of the reasons that I chose Blogger was because it was easy. I'm not sure that I'm up to learning a new platform and trying to migrate this blog to that new platform. I just don't know what to do. And between the computer and this and ... well, other shit ... I'm not in a particularly happy place right now.

So I guess I have one month to decide what to do. If anyone has any brilliant suggestions, I'm all ears (well, as much "ears" as I can be via email and blog comments).

In the meantime ... fuck. Just ... fuck.

Probable Delay in New Captions

A few days ago, I mentioned that I got a new computer. Yeah! Unfortunately, my old computer died this morning (at least I think it's dead...). The problem is that I haven't yet been able to move everything from the old computer to the new one. I'm going to take the old one to a repair shop tomorrow to see if it can be resurrected. But until I either have that computer back or have been able to get my stuff off of the hard drive, it will be very difficult for me to post new captions.

Off for a Long Weekend

Off for a long Valentine's weekend. Oh, who am I kidding. It's more of a President's Day weekend, most likely filled with boredom (but hopefully one good meal...).

New Computer

So I was finally (!) able to get a new computer. A pretty sweet one at that. Of course, now the effort is to get my stuff moved from the old slow beast to the new machine. If I had a little free time that would be good... Alas, you know how it goes.

And don't be surprised if things are a bit sporadic again here for the next month or so. I'm starting something new on Monday that has me sort of stressed. I think it's going to be good for me, but that doesn't mean that it will come easy. And I have to go out of town (against my preference) next week. So computer & captioning time will be at a bit of a premium.

But I'll see what I can do. And I do have some good stuff (at least I think it's good...) in my queue.
