Election Hangover - No Caption Today
Sorry, but there won't be a caption today. I was out working the polls all day yesterday (literally, all day) and I stayed up way, way, way too late watching the election coverage. So I won't be able to post a caption for today.
Absolutely! Thank you for being engaged and involved! It's easy to sit behind a keyboard and pick fights and complain, but so much more meaningful to volunteer and work for change!
I've worked in some capacity on Election Day for a while. I find it rewarding and an important part of civic participation. And every so often, at the end of the day, I feel like what I've done helped, even in some tiny way, to make a difference. Yesterday, for example, I helped a college student vote for the first time when he thought he wasn't going to have time to cast his ballot before he had to leave for classes. I don't know who he voted for; I don't really care (well, I do ... but you know what I mean). But because I made a little effort, he got to experience the most important part of our process: He got to vote. And that makes me feel good.
